Weekly Photo Challenge: In the Background

Scaena – I believe backgrounds are fundamental to scene setting or for providing the context for a story line, this is the basis for why bedtime stories often start with the line “Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there was a…” or something to that affect.  I’ve tried to feed the story in my images, “Mirror, mirror” uses reflection, “Through the Viewfinder” shifts the spotlight away from the main subject and “Girl” shows a shadow cast across the subjects face.

"Through the Viewfinder" - by turning sideways, the focus is now on the photographers taking the photo and the subjects are part of the background as seen through the viewfinder

"Girl" - the background is lit by natural light at the top of the tube slide, this casts shadows across the girls face and you can only just make out a smile

  2. These are great. I think you’re one of the few who captured the idea behind the challenge.
